Food Drive ends November 25
We are extremely fortunate to have the Anne Arundel County Food Bank on our doorstep. Let’s join together to support the food bank, already providing nutritious foods for those in need, as they take on the added task of supporting many of our neighbors impacted by the government shut down.
What Foods Should You Donate?
The food bank’s high-priority items are shelf-stable items, especially those high in fiber and low in both sodium and sugar, including:
Peanut butter and jelly (in plastic jars)
1-pound bags or boxes of rice
1-pound bags of dry beans and legumes such as pinto beans, black beans, and lentils
Healthy snacks like breakfast bars, dried fruit, and nuts
Baby food and formula
Nutritional shakes and supplements such as Ensure and Boost
Other Foods in Demand
Canned soup and stews
Canned fruit and vegetables
Canned fish like tuna and salmon, and canned chicken
Canned beans
Whole-grain pasta
Shelf-stable milk and plant-based milk alternatives
Whole-grain hot and cold cereals
Cooking oils and spices
Non-Food Items
Diapers
Baby wipes
Personal hygiene items such as soap, toothpaste, and shampoo
Important Donation Guidelines
Choose items in plastic containers when possible, as glass jars often break.
Select canned goods that weigh less than 28 ounces and other items that are 1 pound or less.
Check and respect the “use by” and “sell by” dates on all donations. The food bank inspects donations before distributing them.
Cases of bottled water are not needed at this time, so please do not donate them.
How to Donate
You can drop off your donations in the blue bins at the Herald Harbor community center. This makes it easy for neighbors to contribute and support the cause.
If you prefer to give money, you can make a monetary donation online at https://aafoodbank.org/donate/.
Another convenient option is to donate directly from the food bank’s Amazon and Target wish lists at https://aafoodbank.org/give-today/.
